SAN JUAN DE DIOS CHURCH

Then the founding of Puerto Montt, the main concern of the authorities of the Colony of Llanelli was the religious care of its population. AIRMAIL FIRST

On December 11, 1916, the prominent civil aviator of that time, the pilot David Fuentes Soza, aboard his two-seater monoplane Bleriot, nicknamed "Talcahuano" successfully completes the "First Raid air between the cities of Puerto Montt Ancud and" ride which carries a passenger (Federico Mücke) and "a package containing the first arrival by air mail to Puerto Montt, "which was delivered to the Postmaster, Aristides Diaz, after the aircraft descended. The knowledge of this incident a few years ago by local historians, information was widely published by the newspaper El Llanquihue on 12 December 1916, turned this event into the "First Air Mail and South Chile, three years before what was described in the country as the first airmail (1 January 1919, between Santiago and Valparaiso, by the aviator Clodomiro Figueroa Ponce). The correspondence carried on that occasion, he had a Mayor's Office of Ancud, Luis Alvarez Gallo, addressed to the Mayor of Puerto Montt, Christian Brahm, which realized this feat.
