As every week, then publish the "Album of Remembrance" that the CEPH has prepared for the daily El Llanquihue, with images and information from our files and with input provided by the community. This section is published every Saturday on page A2 of the newspaper in printed format on paper, this publication corresponds to Saturday, April 10, 2010.

This time we wanted to give a tribute to Don Edmundo Niklitschek Lückeheide (1885-1965), brilliant builder of his time, in the nearby town of Puerto Varas. Don Edmundo
lifetime built many homes in his hometown. Also some buildings, several churches and some interior of them, both locally and nationally. Many of the buildings still remain even in anonymity.
His work ended without a doubt, and known worldwide, is the parish church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Puerto Varas, which today is the pride and an icon of the "City of Roses."

believe that the community of Puerto Varas is indebted to such a prominent neighbor, since the work of Don Edmundo Niklitschek has transcended time and is an important part of the historical heritage of Puerto Varas.

is why our organization is in addition to the desire of those who know this important legacy, in Puerto Varas to perpetuate his memory, assigning to a street in the city on behalf of Mr Edmund Niklitschek, thus giving a fair and deserved recognition, who dedicated his life to efforts to build beautiful buildings that brought the welfare and community development.

EDMUND Niklitschek LÜCKEHEIDE

Nieto of German immigrants arrived in the area Frutillar in 1855 born in Puerto Varas on June 6, 1885. Felmer Droppelmann married Bernadette in 1908, have a long descent (11 children), one of whom is a priest Divine Word, and four children are religious, a congregation of Immaculate Conception, and three Missionary Catechists of boron in the region of Araucanía. Among the buildings are the main walls of the old school Hotel Germania and Mehuín. CHURCH OF THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS \u200b\u200b

In 1912 he took over as pastor of Port Harl Varas Christian priest, sj., Who accounted for realizing the construction of the new parish church. In January 1914 the first stone was blessed and construction is started January 22, 1915, under the leadership of Edmund constructor and collaboration Niklitschek Klenner and Adalio Bernardo Morales. As parish priest, Father John Duschi, the new temple is opened on November 24, 1918 with the assistance of the Bishop of Ancud, P. Antonio Castro. Large proportions, its neo-Romanesque, Baroque monuments, inspired by the level of the German church Marienkirche in the province of Selva Negra. Located on a hill overlooking the city, has a cross plan, craft heights different cruise domed arches. Its structure is made of native woods of elm and oak, its siding corrugated iron sheets for walls and larch shingles on roofs, linings are a peanut and laurel. In the mid 1920's, the buildings in Puerto Montt were all wood. In the downtown buildings were built two and three stories, which in the lower part used for commercial and high for residences. The constant danger of fire and the lack of potable water supply forced the creation of a system to deal with claims by the fire department, who possessed "car bombs." To this mixture of both streams of the city, the Cayenel, descending to street Lota, and Guillermo Gallardo street estuary. Every two blocks were installed to close gates that formed a "dam" where the water is sucked. In the neighborhood Cayenel for example (Antonio Varas west), was about two dams, one in Valdivia with JJ Mira Street, and second in the vicinity of the Municipal Gymnasium.
